NLP is a coaching methodology founded by American author, the world’s leading hypnotist and trainer Richard Bandler and by John Grinder, American linguist, author, management consultant, trainer and speaker. NLP was created in the 1970′s. Put short: NLP is what works.

Bandler and Grinder studied how people got results, for example how they got over phobias, and started to analyse this process, created techniques and strategies that replicated this process. The way we think is a natural process, a sequence of neurological interactions, driven by senses, communicated by language and body language. These are the building blocks of NLP.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a method of coaching based on Neuro-scientific processes and language patterns to facilitate thinking or learning a new behaviour for personal growth or professional development. Creativity tools and questions enable the client to discover answers that will surface opportunities. Opportunities that challenge one to develop strategies from within. Rarely will the NLP practitioner tell but rather guide through the learning process. This makes it a unique and personalised process, a new way of being clear about oneself, based on internal believes, values and preferences. Your desires, your strategies.

NEURO: Neurological processes, such as emotions and how you order thoughts or analyse situations based on learned behaviour. Also how the brain and body connect via the Central Nervous System.

LINGUISTIC: Language patterns and the process of how we communicate with others or internally.

PROGRAMMING: Analyse behavioural patterns that were learned through experience. Consciously plan to adjust a certain behaviour and move towards desired outcomes.

You learn how to use your senses to experience an internal representation of your thoughts and emotions. It is called your Internal State. With specific strategies and techniques you attain how to change your internal state. This is State Management. Once you master these tools you will find that your external reality will have changed to match your new ‘programmed’ Internal Representation. This is when change happens and you have moved forward or changed perspective lastingly.
